Let’s talk about truth for a second. There are many angles around truth but mine is a performance angle and it’s captured in this quote: The truth is in the pudding.
Um, Todd, that’s not the quote . . .
No it isn’t, but it is what the quote means.
The common quote is: “the proof is in the pudding.”
But the original quote reads a little different. And it means something a little different.
“The proof of the pudding is in the eating.” (That’s from Don Quixote).
Said in a Todd way: eating the pudding is how you experience its truth.
Now, why does this matter?
Well, the ordinary world does this to us a lot. It oversimplifies. It adds a veneer. It hides or distorts the meaning. And we lose sight of the truth.
This is dangerous.
I mean, today’s pudding is a yummy, kid-friendly, store bought Snack-Pack.
But at the time this quote was written, pudding was a much different thing.
It was a rustic meal full of minced meat, cereal, and spices all crammed into a sausage-like animal casing. They added blood for flavor and given the time (Renaissance-ish), the meat could often spoil.
The only way to know if it was “good” was to eat it. To experience whether it was true and good or false and bad. Food or poison. This polarity mimics our two worlds. The suppressed, Trapped Self is stuck in the poison of the ordinary world. And the expanded, Heroic Self lives courageously in the world of the extraordinary.
The toggle between these two worlds is truth.
We take things from outside and bring them in. Food, ideas, “truths”. We taste them. We test them. Why? To see if they’re good. The good brings us closer to our goals; the bad takes us further away from what we want.
The real value, effectiveness, or truth of something can only be known once it’s been experienced. From a performance standpoint, put into practice.
And that’s what I’m inviting you to do. To find the proof, not just in my track record with business experts and elite athletes. And not just in the endless testimonials on my webpages, but for you, in your personal or business goals.
Let me show you how you can show up in a true way.
Because the truth is in putting aside the excuses and choosing to step into your excellence.
The truth is in putting this Masterclass into practice.
Be Bold. Take Action. Leave a Mark. Find Truth or Excuses.
